| REMINGTON 700 XCR II The Winchester Model 70 is known as the “rifleman’s rifle.” It’s not my rifle, maybe I’m not really a rifleman. There’s nothing wrong with a Model 70. I’ve just never believed a bolt-action had to be control-round-feed (CRF) — what Model 70 aficionados swear is its strongest asset. I’m not alone. In his book, Selecting and Ordering a Custom Hunting Rifle, Charlie Sisk wrote, “A CRF action has never won a war. A PF (push-feed) action, the British SMLE, has.” He goes on to say, “… A company making CRF actions has never managed to stay in business very long.” Sisk makes two good points, but I’m just a simple hillbilly that likes to hunt. Many years ago my best friend showed me a rifle to do this with. Years later, when I was assigned as a designated marksman at my police department, the same rifle worked just as well in that role. It was a Remington Model 700. Data Recovery San Antonio TXIT video tutorials | |
