Plans are for an eight storey building that will either be a four star hotel of 150 bedrooms pitched at the boutique end of the market, so there will be no Hilton-like brand here, or alternatively a 5,000 square metre office building for a professional services firm.
If the hotel goes ahead itll have additional facilities in the form of a restaurant on the first floor plus meeting rooms for business travelers, something that is ideally situated given how close the site is to Leicester's main train station.
The construction of a new office building will however be a challenge for any developer in Leicester given the record of many recent such developments there that have failed to attract tenants and been converted into budget hotels or residential buildings as a result. There is however a shortage of modern boutique hotels in the city.
